Just off of Place Rosetti in the Vieux Nice is a small little restaurant called Le Maquis. It is a quiet little restaurant with a great atmosphere. Its primary menu revolves around pizza and other Italian dishes. What made this pizza even more delicious was that it was based with Nicoise specialties; fresh seafood, and veggies only from the south of France.
Aside from the great pizza, they offer wonderful choices of wine. Last night me and my friends dined on a wonderful red wine, that I can no longer remember the name of. All I remember was that it had a warm texture and a sweet taste. Very agreeable with the pizza, my best recommendation is to ask the waiters, they were quite pleasant and had no problems taking special requests.
Finally, because it was my friend’s last night, we all decided to get dessert, Pete and Chelsea shared some Tiramisu, our other friend Nina had some strawberries and cream and I had the chocolate mousse. All were delicious! However, the desserts were not made in the pizzeria itself, rather, they were gotten from another little boulangerie across the street. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the name of it, but regardless, next time I eat at Le Maquis, I’ll be ordering the dessert again.
