My Friday nights have been occupied by a quaint little bar in Vieux Nice called Paddy’s. As mentioned before, Nice has a very large amount of Irish and English pubs located throughout the city. However, what makes Paddy’s unique and exceptionally fun is my friends Peter and Fran. The two play there every Friday night. Peter plays the guitar and Fran sings.
The easiest way to get there is to go through Cours Salaya. It’s a little bit of a trek for me, seeing as I live on the other side of town, but it’s worth it. The cocktails are way too expensive there, but really, the reason we (the other lecteurs) is to support Fran and Peter and for the good atmosphere. Also, we’ve met some really interesting people there.
I’ve even ventured into the wonderful world of Irish drinking at Paddy’s. I’ve become quite fond of Guinness. Usually, I avoided the stuff, because it looked too heavy for me, or too bitter. But my first night there, I said “what the hell” and had a Guinness and to my surprise, I loved it! The bartender even put the Shamrock in the foam of the drink! Apparently, that’s a very touristy thing to do, but I don’t care, I thought it was cool!
And to imagine I was there for your first glass of beer!
You do realize that drinking beer causes a beer belly, right?
Well thanks for the post on the local (or not so local) Irish Pub. Keep up the reviews of the local pubs coming.
