So last night and this morning, I had some very pleasent realizations. First, there is still some hope for the human race! Not much, but just enough, and yes, I know that saying that is a very large and encompassing statement, however, here is my reasoning.
Last night at the party, there were people from at least 4 continents, and we all had fun, and got along! Speaking French, English, German, Dutch, Portugeuse, we were all able to communicate and have a wonderful time.
parties like this give me some hope that we can reach beyond our ethnic, or linguistic boundaries, to relax and all have a good time. Perhaps, it's the time of the year that is making me so optimistic, but even if it is, I don't care, I think it's a nice sentiment, and one that keeps me sane.
The other thing was reading the news today, i saw that in NYC this Monday a group of Republicans, Democrats and Independents are getting together to form a new political party, called the "No Name" party. It's goal, to decrease the "hyper-bipartisanship" in not only the US Congress, but in US politics and discourse in general.
It's a great idea, and I tihnk it works. For too long, peole have been yelling at each other, rather than doing anything productive or constructive.
Here's hoping that the sanity lasts past the new year.
