So, like i've stated, I got a Nicois cookbook for Christmas from one of the other teachers. Well, last night, my friend Matheiu came over and I used it for the first time! And much to my surprise, it was a success!
I made a honey and almond pie, which I made everything from scratch, even the pie crust! Go Jamie! It was easier to make than I thought it was going to be. The trickiest thing was beating the egg whites to make them foamy and hard, as I don't have any beaters, so I had to sit there for 15 minutes with a fork whipping my egg whites into submission.
For the main meal, I made Nicoise sauce, which is very garlicy and oniony but was absolutey delicious. I had to improvise a little and add some tomatoe sauce to actually give it a 'sauce' quality. I served that over lamb chops and white rice.
We finished off with watching A christmas Story.
It was a good night.
