Halloween has always been my favorite holiday of the year. Usually, I end up doing something with someone for either a party, a night of drunken debauchery or sitting around watching scary movies. However, this year, that can’t happen. Halloween isn’t really a big deal in France, they know about it, they know it’s big in America, but they have no customs of their own for it. So I had to be creative about it.
During the week, I had sent an e-mail to the other lecteurs wanting to know if they wanted to do anything for Halloween. So Katie, dear sweet loveable Katy, decided to have a little movie night at her place. We got pizza and junk food and watched Shaun of the Dead! Originally, I had hoped to find a bunch of horror movies, but again, in France you need first born son, blood sample and urine sample to do anything, we couldn’t get a video rental card.
Though it wasn’t what was originally planned, it turned out to be a great night! Shaun of the Dead was just as funny as the last time I saw it, the wine was good, and the food was amazing. Overall, a great night of just relaxing and talking. We met two of Katie’s French friends so I even got to practice my French a bit! Around 2:30-3:00am they all wanted to go out, but I was already quite tipsy and tired, so I just stayed at Katie’s and fell asleep. Not the most exciting Halloween celebration, but definitely a great time!
I wore the army outfit again. I know we have a matching set of army outfits, and it wasn't quite the same without you there. Anyway I met up with a friend in NYC and we ended up at Rush @ the corner of 16th and 6th. We had a lot of fun dancing and watching the costume contest.
One of these days I actually have to get into NYC at 7pm to actually WATCH the Halloween parade!
