So today was my first official time being under the weather in Nice. It was HELL! I wasn’t “sick” per se, rather, I was suffering consequences from not appropriately dressing myself the day before. Granted it wasn’t “cold” by American North Eastern standards, but after a month of 80 degree weather, dropping down to the fifties was a bit of a shock. So I didn’t wear a jacket, and thus suffered for it.
I woke up at all hours of the night with severe lower back pain. I guess it happens when not dressed appropriately for the cold. All day long I had lower back pain, and was really out of it. My first class was the hardest, and I didn’t talk a lot preferring to keep them in group work. As the day went on, my back pain got better, however it moved up into my chest. And instead of lower back pain, it was then a tightness in the chest. Wonderful!
When I got home, I slept from 3:30-7:30, woke up, tried to eat but wasn’t too successful and ended up back asleep at 10:30 where I slept through the night. Now, September 17th, I feel a lot better. No more tightness in the chest, and only minor elbow pain of all places. So, I’ve learned my lesson, and today I wore an undershirt, a t-shirt and a jacket. I guess I gotta bite the bullet and buy a winter jacket for when I go to Geneva and Berlin!
